the dark moon is the period before the new moon begins to make Their silver crescent visible. they will hang in the sky like a fish hook, catching us as we swim between realms, wet with intentions, wet from birthing. until then we wait, we rest, we release, we hydrate our bodies & souls. the preparation to begin again is what makes the new beginning stick. you know, like how you have to hold down the reset button on some things for a whole minute for it to work?
in preparation for this reset, consider these questions. what if your clearest desires are prophesies? what would happen if you call your power back to you from the four corners of the earth, from all the directions, into this moment? what if you engaged with grief, rage, & love as synonyms?
everything you hold, the trees are holding with you too. the water is listening to you. the wind is spreading the word. everything you hold is already held for you. you’re not supposed to hold it all. I say this to say: you don’t need to generate answers right now. make some room to play your role as a vessel, a channel, a collaborator. in relinquishing your authority you access your true sovereignty, because it comes from your interconnectedness. never your invincibility, certainty, or self-sufficiency.
avoiding connection because we think it means being always available or feeling less free means we think connection is just a transactional verb rather than a state of being, a way of life. we do this because we’re terrified, we’re trying to protect ourselves, we don’t know how to trust self or others. I think we can begin to find our way out of struggle & into connection if we don’t conflate trust with absolute certainty. and maybe we can find our way into trust with ourselves if we don’t conflate the purposeful self with perfection.
in forming your priorities moving forward from this new moon, don’t wait for crisis to make connection a priority. and remember how beautiful people are.
