the sun is a star

in the natal chart, the Sun represents a core sense of existing, a source of creative presence and power, the radiance of your central organizing principles. it functions cosmologically like the solar plexus functions anatomically: a complex of ganglia and radiating nerves of the sympathetic system at the pit of the stomach.

astronomically, the Sun is a star. it’s the star closest to us and the only one in the earth’s solar system. if we think about the earth as the center of the third dimension, we can understand it as a place where the surrounding planetary frequencies meet and interact through and around us. this is part of what we experience as “reality”. but what if we played with the concept of the Sun representing you?

imagine yourself being very, very far from earth. something like 93 million miles. you can still see earth, and earth can certainly feel and experience you. in fact, you’re the source of vitality and visible life on earth. earth can see you too, but a different version, something other than what you really are, because the distance is a necessary component to this collaboration. you get to create on earth and still exist as yourself, untouchable and unbelievably well positioned. earth gets to experience creation and orients around the alternating presence and absence of you.

now imagine orienting to life in this way.

you’re in it and you’re outside of it. you’re experiencing it and you’re creating it. you are in the third dimension (earth, material reality) but you are not the third dimension. in but not of the world, of but not in the world. you are your awareness, you are the sensations you experience, and you are none of it. you are the Sun.

we create less and experience less of what we desire, we idealize and dream up life as something separate or far away from ourselves because we believe that the material reality as defined by other people is what is Real™️. we believe that this is it, it is what it is. it’s a stricture that can be an entry into radical acceptance, but I don’t know if it’s a viable environment for life to thrive. thinking that everything else is cool to imagine but foolish to attempt to enact if it conflicts with the realities other people have imposed onto the material realm is reducing the satisfaction available to us in each moment.

we use the word “construct” to talk about the socio-political realities we are all impacted by to varying degrees, but have you ever actually thought about what that means? we are saying that someone else constructed a reality, experience, framework of meaning and enforced it. and part of why they were successful is because they communicated that reality to other people with conviction, and they all agreed to collaborate on that reality. or, they didn’t wait for anyone to agree and collaborate and instead, embodied the reality they wanted to create until it became something other people wanted to enter and embody, too.

you’re bigger than you think you are.

pragmatic types might be resistant to that statement, as if it’s an invitation to inflation and conflation. there is, in fact, so many things outside of our control and we are very tiny in the face of Everything. but we are also the Sun, and the Sun is a star, unconcerned with Their size and focused on shining no matter what.

the Sun is (the) present, the only moment in time from which power can most sustainably be (re)sourced. the Sun is the presence around which the earth (the material realm, touchable reality) orbits. the Sun creates through just showing up as itself.

ask yourself today: who is the self you are showing up as and what is that creating?
